No, you see where the Pokémon appears in the Great Marsh. Then you go there, walk around a bit and you might find the binocular Pokémon. Some are harder to find than others.
I went on safari last Jan/Feb and purchased a $350 Nikkon 8/24 6.3" waterproof binoculars from REI. They were very knowledgeable – also had friends who told me to be sure to have powerful binoculars – but as it turned out, I really didn't need such an expensive pair as all the animals were very up close and personal! Really! Most of the time I didn't even need binocs.
But I was on a very expensive private tour plus there had been no measurable rain in 4 years, it was VERY hot and the animals were more apt to be out in the open and they were.
That's not to say you don't need them – you do – but maybe one that's not as powerful therefore cheaper. Then again, you never know what you will see and how close up animals will be.
So, it would depend on your budget – hope this helps.
